Fairmount Behavioral Health System recognizes that each person we care for is unique and requires a specialized treatment program and treatment plan. Our goal is to assist each patient in their recovery by providing support, various skills-based and process group modalities, cognitive behavioral strategies and patient/family education while concurrently providing advanced psychopharmacology and symptom reduction in a safe environment
Comprehensive treatment oriented activities are provided by a multidisciplinary staff. Clinical staff provide group therapy, family therapy, activity therapy, recreational therapy, and educational services. All clinical services are delivered by qualified professional staff including, but not limited to, psychiatrists, registered nurses, mental health workers, clinical social workers, case managers, a psychologist, teacher, dietitian, pharmacist, substance abuse counselors, and allied (including recreational) therapists.

Fairmount provides a comprehensive and thorough continuum of care with services including:
- 24 Hour Assessment and Referral Center
- Five different adult psychiatric inpatient units, each with unique programming based upon the patient's clinical profile;
- Five child and adolescent inpatient psychiatric units, including two units dedicated to the treatment of adolescent females,
- Sixty-Seven (67) chemical dependency residential beds,
- An Allied Therapy program that includes art, music, and movement therapies,
- Therapeutic services that include cognitive behavioral counseling (group and individual) and applied behavioral analysis and treatment,
- A K-12 school program facilitated by certified teachers, including a special education instructor, and
- Twenty-four hour psychiatric physician coverage and oversight.
Our Adult Psychiatric Services include five distinctive inpatient programs which enable patients to be admitted to services which are unique to the individual's symptoms and clinical profile. Our adult inpatient services include the following units:
- Short Term Assessment and Triage. Provides services to individuals who typically need a shorter length of stay with less severe or acute psychiatric symptoms
- High Acuity. Individuals are admitted to this unit based upon an involuntary commitment to treatment or whose symptoms are of high acuity and require close observation
- Young Adult Unit. Treats individuals ages 18-30 years of age. Programming on this unit has a strong component of chemical dependency education as well as curriculum and services designed for the development needs of this age group.
- General Psychiatric and Dual Diagnosis: In addition to general psychiatry, this unit has a separate track for patients whose mental illness co-occurs with an addictive disorder.
- Intensive Care. Provides services to patients who have long-standing psychiatric disorders and may have experienced several inpatient treatment episodes.
The Child/Adolescent Inpatient Psychiatric Service is a specialized level of care designed to meet the needs of children and adolescents with a broad spectrum psychiatric disorders. Fairmount provides separate and treatment specific programming for young children (5-10yo), pre-adolescents (10-12yo), adolescent boys (13-17yo) and adolescent girls (13-17yo). Treatment modalities and interventions include Interventions include the group therapy, psycho-education, and activity therapy, school services facilitated by certified special education instructors, allied therapy, family involvement and support, linkage with referral sources/providers, and a behavior management level system.
Fairmount's Adult Chemical Dependency Program includes detoxification services for individuals experiencing addiction to alcohol, benzodiazepines and/or opiates. This residential program completes our continuity of care for individuals experiencing co-occurring addiction and psychiatric issues. The Chemical Dependency Program at Fairmount is designed for individuals who require medically monitored detoxification and/or specialized treatment as a result of failed attempts at sobriety/chronic relapse history, and lack a supportive environment conducive to recovery. Individuals may also be experiencing mild to moderate mental health issues that present as an obstacle to recovery. Patients have access to a psychiatrist for medication needs and evaluation.
Our Acute Partial Hospitalization Program is designed to help those individuals who need more structured and focused care than can be provided in outpatient treatment. It also can help ease the transition from inpatient treatment to home by offering on-campus day treatment in a setting that is warm, nurturing, safe, and comfortable. The goal of the program is to help prepare for a successful transition back to home, work, or school by addressing and managing the symptoms that can make these transitions so difficult. This short-term program provides day treatment services to adolescents, 14 years of age and older, and adults. Individuals receive intensive group therapy and psychiatric monitoring/management three to five days a week.
