It has been two years since I have assumed the position of Chief Executive Officer at Fairmount Behavioral Health System. In 2004, we began our journey to excellence and started to build a foundation for success. In these two years, we have made some very significant changes in an effort to improve our clinical programming, admissions processes, management structure, discharge/aftercare planning, communication, and the physical appearance of our facility. Our success in these areas have established Fairmount as a leader in behavioral health treatment in Southeastern Pennsylvania. Here are some of our accomplishments:

• Improved our Admissions Department and access/referral processes
• Improved our Organizational Structure and hired a new leadership team including: Chief Nursing Officer, Director of Admissions Services, Directors of Adult and Child/Adolescent Services, Nurse Managers and Director of Risk Management
• Bolstered Social Work Department to improve family involvement, discharge planning, and consistent communication with providers.
• Improved Clinical Structure and Programming and increased our staffing
• Developed a full time Allied Therapy Program consisting of 7 full-time allied therapists, with specialties in art, recreation, dance/movement, and music therapies.
• Expanded our transportation department to better accommodate your referral needs and insure patients safely return home at discharge.
• Implemented a Service Excellence Philosophy of customer service
• Renovations included: renovated the gym and the Admissions Department, new carpeting throughout main building, significant improvements in landscaping/grounds, new furniture in patient areas, and several other facility and service upgrades.

We are proud of these improvements, which have resulted in very strong patient satisfaction results for all of our services. I am very excited about Fairmount’s future. We have put together a solid clinical and administrative team and we will be able to meet all of the challenges the future holds.

We will continue to collaborate with our providers, payers, and the community as we further look for opportunities to make Fairmount Behavioral Health System the premier provider of behavioral health services in Southeastern Pennsylvania.
